What happens before your street is finished
Vaughan follows a local sequence. Knowing the phase explains why one road can be clear while another is still waiting.

Clear main roads, then neighbourhoods
At 5 cm of snow, Vaughan's published completion targets after snowfall ends are four hours for main roads, 12 for residential roads, and 16 for rear lanes.
- 2Driveway entrances
Allow time for the windrow machine
The separate service normally follows within four hours of the road plow. Heavy snow and blocked access can delay it.
- 3Courts and cleanup
Leave space around turning areas
Cul-de-sacs need special equipment. Snow stored in the centre may remain until the pile reduces safe room for vehicles.

Vaughan parking rules that matter
- Do not leave a car on the street while snowplows are clearing it.
- Overnight parking from 2 to 6 a.m. requires the applicable permit; permits do not override snow-clearing restrictions.
- Keep the end of your driveway clear of parked cars that hang over the curb or obstruct the entrance machine.

Who clears what in Vaughan
The city plow department is not responsible for every road, sidewalk, driveway, alley, or parking area.
City of Vaughan
Maintains municipal roads and provides windrow service at residential driveways fronting Vaughan roadways.
York Region
Maintains regional roads including Bathurst, Dufferin, Keele, and Major Mackenzie. Direct concerns about those roads to the Region.
Households and property managers
Clear the rest of the driveway. The entrance service does not remove hardened snow, ice, or ridges left by sidewalk equipment.

Short answers for the questions residents usually have during an active storm.
Will Vaughan clear my entire driveway?
No. The windrow machine makes an opening at the entrance so a vehicle can pass. It does not clear the full driveway.
Why did the road plow leave a ridge?
Windrow equipment runs on a separate schedule. The city allows up to four hours after the plow under normal conditions, with delays possible.
Does a Vaughan address mean the city plows my street?
Not necessarily. York Region maintains several major roads inside Vaughan. Use the ownership link before choosing whom to contact.
