Secondary roads also start around 5 cm, with an approximately eight-hour cleanup target. More snowfall can keep crews on these routes.
- 3Residential roads
Expect a later neighbourhood pass
Residential deployment starts around 8 cm, with cleanup generally 12 to 24 hours after snowfall ends. A snow-packed surface can remain.

Barrie parking rules that matter
- From December 1 to March 31, most city streets prohibit parking from 12:01 to 7 a.m.; the Downtown BIA window is 3 to 6 a.m.
- Christmas and New Year's exceptions are conditional. Check for a Winter Maintenance Event before relying on them.
- Outside the regular season, a declared Winter Maintenance Event can still restrict overnight street parking. Follow the current notice and signs.

Why does the tracker say serviced when there is still snow?
A service pass can be brine, salt, or sand rather than plowing. The tracker also warns that GPS accuracy and turning movements can affect the displayed street status.
Will a second machine clear my driveway entrance?
Barrie does not offer driveway windrow removal. Plan to clear the ridge left by the street plow yourself.
Can I leave my car overnight on Christmas?
Check the city's overnight parking page and the latest declaration. The listed holiday exceptions can be cancelled by a Winter Maintenance Event.
