What happens before your street is finished

Crews keep the main municipal road network moving before the full fleet shifts to neighborhoods.

Work through residential zones
After at least four inches and once the main network is clear, the active Plan A or Plan B order sets the zone sequence.

Follow up work can include widening, snow hauling, drainage access, and other cleanup after the first neighborhood pass.

- Move vehicles, trailers, and portable objects out of the roadway before a residential plow out reaches the zone.

The city plow department is not responsible for every road, sidewalk, driveway, alley, or parking area.

State of Alaska and other operators
The state maintains several major roads. Private streets, parking lots, and driveways remain with their owner or contractor.

Check the zone and road owner first
The live GPS feed can have a short delay, and a residential zone may remain in progress for many hours. Wait for the official zone completion before reporting an ordinary missed municipal street.
